The new Florida Energy Efficiency Law went into effect on March 15, 2012.

Florida House Bill 849: "If the total horsepower (HP) of a residential filtration pool pump or filtration pool pump motor is one horsepower or larger then the pump or pump motor must be capable of operating at a minimum of at least two speeds".

Recent exclusion to FL building code concerning 2 speed motors: Unless the total reapir cost is more than 30% of the value of your complete pool strtucture, you are exempt and a 2 speed motor is not required.
